Your speed of thought needs to be much faster.

An English Lesson from my school memories...

If you are to pull out one from the bunch of your school lessons(teachings) that is still lingering in the memory fresh - I am sure there would be at least one from English. I have always loved my English books and when the school reopened, and the new books were distributed, the smell of the new Gulmohar (English text books publishers) was something I always looked forward to and quickly flipped through the pages to see how many stories they got - and would start reading myself not having patience for the teachers to teach.

Unsurprisingly, the lessons I took in school that I can remember now - most of them were from English than Tamil, Science or history - "Emily and the Detectives", "David and Goliath", "All about a dog", "Rip van winkle", "Birds' Migration" and even the poems - "Daffodils"(Wordsworth), "Night & Death", "Paradise lost"(Milton), "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"(Frost), and also the one which I dont remember the title but about children forced to work in factories during industrial revolution.

Recently I recollected a lesson, a story titled "==I edited the title here to keep you guessing what the story is about==" - a touching story, some of those lines invaded strongly into my memory and remember it till date. Without giving much hype, here is it for you, courtesy Google.

I started for school very late that morning and was in great dread of a scolding, especially because M. Hamel had said that he would question us on participles, and I did not know the first word about them. For a moment I thought of running away and spending the day out of doors. It was so warm, so bright! The birds were chirping at the edge of the woods; and in the open field back of the sawmill the Prussian soldiers were drilling. It was all much more tempting than the rule for participles, but I had the strength to resist, and hurried off to school.

When I passed the town hall there was a crowd in front of the bulletin-board. For the last two years all our bad news had come from there—the lost battles, the draft, the orders of the commanding officer—and I thought to myself, without stopping:
“What can be the matter now?”

Then, as I hurried by as fast as I could go, the blacksmith, Wachter, who was there, with his apprentice, reading the bulletin, called after me:
“Don’t go so fast, bub; you’ll get to your school in plenty of time!”

I thought he was making fun of me, and reached M. Hamel’s little garden all out of breath.

Usually, when school began, there was a great bustle, which could be heard out in the street, the opening and closing of desks, lessons repeated in unison, very loud, with our hands over our ears to understand better, and the teacher’s great ruler rapping on the table. But now it was all so still! I had counted on the commotion to get to my desk without being seen; but, of course, that day everything had to be as quiet as Sunday morning. Through the window I saw my classmates, already in their places, and M. Hamel walking up and down with his terrible iron ruler under his arm. I had to open the door and go in before everybody. You can imagine how I blushed and how frightened I was.

But nothing happened. M. Hamel saw me and said very kindly:
“Go to your place quickly, little Franz. We were beginning without you.”

I jumped over the bench and sat down at my desk. Not till then, when I had got a little over my fright, did I see that our teacher had on his beautiful green coat, his frilled shirt, and the little black silk cap, all embroidered, that he never wore except on inspection and prize days. Besides, the whole school seemed so strange and solemn. But the thing that surprised me most was to see, on the back benches that were always empty, the village people sitting quietly like ourselves; old Hauser, with his three-cornered hat, the former mayor, the former postmaster, and several others besides. Everybody looked sad; and Hauser had brought an old primer, thumbed at the edges, and he held it open on his knees with his great spectacles lying across the pages.

While I was wondering about it all, M. Hamel mounted his chair, and, in the same grave and gentle tone which he had used to me, said:
“My children, this is the last lesson I shall give you. The order has come from Berlin to teach only German in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine. The new master comes to-morrow. This is your last French lesson. I want you to be very attentive.”

What a thunderclap these words were to me!
Oh, the wretches; that was what they had put up at the town-hall!

My last French lesson! Why, I hardly knew how to write! I should never learn any more! I must stop there, then! Oh, how sorry I was for not learning my lessons, for seeking birds’ eggs, or going sliding on the Saar! My books, that had seemed such a nuisance a while ago, so heavy to carry, my grammar, and my history of the saints, were old friends now that I couldn’t give up. And M. Hamel, too; the idea that he was going away, that I should never see him again, made me forget all about his ruler and how cranky he was.

Poor man! It was in honor of this last lesson that he had put on his fine Sunday clothes, and now I understood why the old men of the village were sitting there in the back of the room. It was because they were sorry, too, that they had not gone to school more. It was their way of thanking our master for his forty years of faithful service and of showing their respect for the country that was theirs no more.
While I was thinking of all this, I heard my name called. It was my turn to recite. What would I not have given to be able to say that dreadful rule for the participle all through, very loud and clear, and without one mistake? But I got mixed up on the first words and stood there, holding on to my desk, my heart beating, and not daring to look up. I heard M. Hamel say to me:

“I won’t scold you, little Franz; you must feel bad enough. See how it is! Every day we have said to ourselves: ‘Bah! I’ve plenty of time. I’ll learn it to-morrow.’ And now you see where we’ve come out. Ah, that’s the great trouble with Alsace; she puts off learning till to-morrow. Now those fellows out there will have the right to say to you: ‘How is it; you pretend to be Frenchmen, and yet you can neither speak nor write your own language?’ But you are not the worst, poor little Franz. We’ve all a great deal to reproach ourselves with.

“Your parents were not anxious enough to have you learn. They preferred to put you to work on a farm or at the mills, so as to have a little more money. And I? I’ve been to blame also. Have I not often sent you to water my flowers instead of learning your lessons? And when I wanted to go fishing, did I not just give you a holiday?”

Then, from one thing to another, M. Hamel went on to talk of the French language, saying that it was the most beautiful language in the world—the clearest, the most logical; that we must guard it among us and never forget it, because when a people are enslaved, as long as they hold fast to their language it is as if they had the key to their prison. Then he opened a grammar and read us our lesson. I was amazed to see how well I understood it. All he said seemed so easy, so easy! I think, too, that I had never listened so carefully, and that he had never explained everything with so much patience. It seemed almost as if the poor man wanted to give us all he knew before going away, and to put it all into our heads at one stroke.

After the grammar, we had a lesson in writing. That day M. Hamel had new copies for us, written in a beautiful round hand: France, Alsace, France, Alsace. They looked like little flags floating everywhere in the school-room, hung from the rod at the top of our desks. You ought to have seen how every one set to work, and how quiet it was! The only sound was the scratching of the pens over the paper. Once some beetles flew in; but nobody paid any attention to them, not even the littlest ones, who worked right on tracing their fish-hooks, as if that was French, too. On the roof the pigeons cooed very low, and I thought to myself:
“Will they make them sing in German, even the pigeons?”

Whenever I looked up from my writing I saw M. Hamel sitting motionless in his chair and gazing first at one thing, then at another, as if he wanted to fix in his mind just how everything looked in that little school-room. Fancy! For forty years he had been there in the same place, with his garden outside the window and his class in front of him, just like that. Only the desks and benches had been worn smooth; the walnut-trees in the garden were taller, and the hopvine that he had planted himself twined about the windows to the roof. How it must have broken his heart to leave it all, poor man; to hear his sister moving about in the room above, packing their trunks! For they must leave the country next day.

But he had the courage to hear every lesson to the very last. After the writing, we had a lesson in history, and then the babies chanted their ba, be bi, bo, bu. Down there at the back of the room old Hauser had put on his spectacles and, holding his primer in both hands, spelled the letters with them. You could see that he, too, was crying; his voice trembled with emotion, and it was so funny to hear him that we all wanted to laugh and cry. Ah, how well I remember it, that last lesson!
All at once the church-clock struck twelve. Then the Angelus. At the same moment the trumpets of the Prussians, returning from drill, sounded under our windows. M. Hamel stood up, very pale, in his chair. I never saw him look so tall.
“My friends,” said he, “I—I—” But something choked him. He could not go on.
Then he turned to the blackboard, took a piece of chalk, and, bearing on with all his might, he wrote as large as he could:
“Vive La France!”

Then he stopped and leaned his head against the wall, and, without a word, he made a gesture to us with his hand:
“School is dismissed—you may go.”

"The Last Lesson" by Alphonse Daudet

Not sure why I felt so moved to such a simple story line. I thought may be I shoud google to see if it is available somewhere in internet - to read it again. And , Good Lord - when I just searched "Last lesson" - the very first link got me the story and glad that is so famous and easily available. And felt like sharing this.

Note to self and my classmates(Vivekanada MHSS, Karur - 639 004) if they ever get to see this : This one, Taught by the English Teacher Mr. Anbazhagan - who had a scar in his face and had a strong tamil medium accent. He didnt do justice to the story as he read out the story line by line without any emotion. No wonder if none of my classmates remember this story today, as I luckily had read the story even before he taught.

Today...

It's been a while I blogged, and I was telling myself towards end of the day that I should do it today, and when I flipped on the tv, to Star sports on Channel 81 - I was like - wow, Federer's on and wait a minute - is this true - Fed is down 1 sets to 2 - and who is it against him? The upset king of last year Robin Soderling trying to repeat this time to Roger. And when the play resumed after a small drizzle - I can see why. Fed was at his pathetic best hitting balls into the net as if he was playing some practise match and not wanting to trouble the net boys a lot - "It is raining, you know, poor ball boys having to stay wet all the time, you know - lets go home soon". The play begun @ 3-3 Roger serving and he led himself to save 3 break points and hang on - while Soderling just eased in his. And @ 4-4 again Roger struggled to 15-40. I was expecting some winner like against Haas in Wimb '09 for a dramatic turnaround - but he erred again to seal his own fate.

I am just waiting for Roger to come down address the press as whats wrong with him today - because only he knows what he was doing out there. But its all my fault. May be I should have decided to write this yesterday - Roger's fan.

200*...

Ever since I was mature enough to understand Cricket, I have been a fan of Him. And I sorely missed the greatest moment that He has ever produced live on tv - yet another day and reason when I hated my job. I did watch the highlights - and I should have wrote my own words on how I felt : but here is an excerpt from Cricinfo(My fav website) which I loved and amazed at:

"Sachin Tendulkar’s record-breaking didn’t stop on the field on February 24. He shattered many on Cricinfo. We recorded 45 million page views that day, and our highest number of unique users in India and the United States. The match report for the Gwalior ODI became Cricinfo's single most read piece of content.

It has always been so. If evidence was ever needed to confirm Tendulkar’s status as the world’s most-adored cricketer, it can be found in our logs. Month after month, year after year, he remains the most-searched cricketer on Cricinfo; by a huge margin, his profile page is the most visited player page on the site; and in any given month, headlines (often more than one) featuring his name are among the top 10 on the site.

Among other things, he also broke a couple of our servers that day.

Trust me, we make serious contingency plans for peak moments, and certainly we have never underestimated your love for Tendulkar. But obviously, there is no accounting for it. As he stood a couple of runs away from making history, so many of you logged in together that our servers blinked. It was a desperate few minutes, but in a sense, it was also a moment of vindication of your faith in us. Many of you got on Twitter to vent your frustration, and there was one post that stood out: “You know you are large when you crash Cricinfo.”

We hope to be ready for the next peak. We have just ordered some Tendulkar servers."

Almost every body in the media wrote/spoke about the record, but being a techie, I loved this piece where he smashed servers with his game - after all anything is possible if you are God. And here is a comment from a reader for this article- "I honestly believe this is the best Sachin tribute yet :)" - I can not agree with him more.

Last Ride...

Ever since I joined TCS, I never felt in awe of the company. Probably, being part of itself, I do not get to realise its... whatever(well, i still dont realise). Even there used to be an annual survey where there will be a question "Do you feel proud bearing the brand name Tata" - and never did i Lied. But still the moments of pride being a TCSer, there are few.

And of late it is - the huge, majestic cool and (very) corporate - TCS Volvos. Painted in the traditional blues of the TATA all over its otherwise pure white body -which used to have the proud "TATA Consultancy Services" written over its forehead but all over its body I should say, carry one of the most formal looks. I have seen a lot of blue and white buses (and there is another corporate which runs in white and blue) and lot of other corporate buses, but I just love ours. I can spot the bus among the whole chennai peak hour traffic enen from a mile very easily, just b'cos other buses dont please my eyes as ours. Even whenever I see them parked on the roadsides on holidays I used to show them childishly as "Ours" to others.

And that too, in the evenings they will be packed in rows like an army of the TATAs, and when ready, they race out and hit the road painting the whole city in blue and whites. Sitting in the window seat, with my radio humming a favourite song, a peep out of window will show a whole stretch of Blues - I just smile proudly. Sometimes there will be our buses on either side of my bus - changing the whole evening light into Blue - just makes you feel like you belong to the blues of TATA. I loved the buses.

And today I had my Last Ride. I finally had to discontinue my subscription due to... it doesnt matter. All I know is, I am not gonna get to ride the bus again. The blue beauty is not mine anymore.

Today Morning, for the first time and for one last time - I went to the bus stop as early as I had ever made. I have missed the bus more times than I caught, but today I didnt want to miss it. The window seat (even when I know that the bumpy Velachery road is going to bring my breakfast from the stomach back to the chest, I chose to sit in the back as I wanted the window seat) , some curious, some sleepy, some casual looks coming from my fellow TCSers - crossed them all and settled with my FM tunes - and friday freshness was as usual in the air - couldn't ask for more.

And in the evening came My Last ride. Left 10 mins early, and got in to No. 35 - I knew it takes longer route, but thats what I want. Got into the Window seat and picked my ERGO. As we started i got the glimpse of the Bluish evening for one last time.

And when we got closer to my stop - I felt like travelling more. Finally when i stepped down, I felt like some one close is departing. I got down, stepped aside and kept looking at the blue fading away.

There are few other things which might remind me that I am a TCSer, but still - next time when I see the vast stretch of blue, I doubt I will feel belonging to TATA.

I am going to miss you, Blue.

Hand Eye Co-ordination

Have you seen the art of hand-eye coordination in action - not something like Federer's forehand or Sehwag's offside swat - they are special, but I am talking about the day-to-day life - A tea master in tea shop raising tea glass over his head and pouring it another glass with his eyes still on customer - skillful. A woodcutter raising his hammer well above his head and with all his force striking the wedge right on head everytime - accurate. A hotel cook preparing 'roti's and throwing as if he want to discard it, but it just finds the place in the middle of the plate. I have always envied and wanted to have such a talent.

Finally i discovered my own H-E-C talent that made me proud - on my dinner table. While i was still on phone, and thoughts somwhere else, still i was able to break the dosa and launch it right into the invisible target - my mouth. You cannot always keep it open for obvious reasons, but the mouth too synched and opened at the right time when the hand was close enough and the food went right in not even touching the boundaries - I was impressed.

Why did I Jump out of Window?

Of late i am not getting a good sleep. I get only disturbed sleeps and used to have many lengthy dreams. The sleeps are very shallow that I could remember every single scene of the dream when I wake up. Finally when i reconstruct all those scenes I could imagine how long I have been dreaming and all that time I have had only half slept. I have become a semi sleeper. Disturbed sleep in the night means I feel sleepy during the day too. Even when i am doing something I doze off.

Worse, I don't even know if I am sleeping right now. How do I know that I am not typing this in my dream. I know i am not sleeping and not dreaming, but it is possible that i am feeling so being in my dream. Of course i could slap myself and feel the pain. But again, i could be dreaming as if i am feeling slapped, as I have felt being hurt and cried a few times in my dream. I think there is a way.. Dreams do not produce anything real, so the only way to test this, is to return tomorrow and open this page to see if there is anything. Wait a minute, what if i return tomorrow again in dream?

Oh my God, now i am really worried... what if this whole of my life is just a dream? what if we live for not just 60 yrs but this whole 60 yrs is just a dream over a single night's sleep of myself? or some one else's? It could be that everyone lives for millions of years(or may be immortal) and their one night sleep just lasts for 50-60 years and we are just characters in their dreams everyday. Sometime us people live shortly, and that might be during their short nap. If this is real, whose dream am I? Should be my own. Well, I dont like this dream - it seems to be a bad dream, let me wake myself and restart the sleep so that I might get a better better life in my next dream - somewhere on a different planet, as some different creature with some different form of life! All I need to do is - the Window!

Death sentence for 3 ... who were responsible for burning a bus and in the process killing three innocent agricutlural college students.

How cruel death is... not content with the count already, Death like these never comes alone. Everyone(including my friend Velraj) believes that they deserve it and even more... I think the worst possible way to die is to be aware that you are going to die in a few days from now. Hope now they atleast look at each other and ask "What have we done??"

Face to Face

Faces... I wonder aesthetically how nature is able to be so creative that apart from very rare identical look alikes(double action), everyday millions of them are born and they all look different. To understand how creative it takes to achieve this : Did u ever tried to create a face in your mind that you have never met? Well, Nature is doing well to create different faces for everyone of us, so when you come up with such a face out of your imagination there still might be possible that he is born somewhere. So, if this is so hard, how can nature be able to create millions of such faces everyday?

However, If I try to think Scientifically, it looks the other way which is pretty easy.. - faces are result of permutations and combinations of millions of factors(or chemicals) and their ingredients at millions of different moments that gradually build up to faces and it is extremely impossible to have two instances of such million things happening at the same sequence and time to result in similar looking faces - some of those factors being the health of the mother, her food habits, the state of her mind (which in turn relates to the external environment)the weather around, the nature and properties of her bodily fluids to react to all these factors and above all - the genes - which again is a chemical factor which was subjected to all the above factors looped over generations and generations - means only when you arrive at such an identical look alikes who are not twins you should be surprised.

When aesthetics just sit and wonder from the ground how amazing the stars are, scientists go all the way up to explore it and realise they are nothing but big fire balls. But whats the problem in preferring to sit down and enjoy("How I wonder what you are") how beautiful things are, than to strain hard only to realise that they all are illusions??

Heroes rising...

Nowadays it's been all sports when I go back home via Comcast cable. Yesterday, I saw two greats put to test for a while before they eventually showed up the best.

First it was Federer, playing against big serving Feliciano Lopez(ESP). Earlier round, Lopez was playing teenager Young(USA) and was not that impressive. So I thought it will be simple for Federer. But I was wrong. Lopez's strategy is to go for what he thought is his strength - the serve and was serving big, even second serves going for 115mph. This made Federer impossible for breaking his serve, but was broken himself and lost the first set 3-6. And in the next set it was the same story, with Lopez easily holding the serve while Federer hustling to hold his. It was until 5-4 and Lopez serving @ 15-30 that I saw first of Federer's himself that day. It was a passing backhand winner and then it was Federer's all the way(except 0-40 start in third set) Federer then won 35 straight points in his serve that is more than 8 games without conceding a point, and had enough chances to break Lopez to win the match. Typical Federer raising the game and leaving the opponents drained of any confidence. Score : 3-6 6-4 6-1 6-4 Fed.

Next it was HHH in Monday night Raw. When roommate Sumit claimed it was kiddish to watch WWE, and most of us know its all unreal, it is still fun to watch. And HHH being a villain once against the people's champ 'The Rock',he is now a hero. And when he was performing his blood ripping illegal hits as a villain, we hate him, but now being a hero we enjoy it. Even in movies, hero won't use weapons as villains do.

The match was a handicapped one- Carlito and umaga Vs HHH. But just few minutes into the match, umaga lost temper and entered into the ring and both started hitting HHH out. Match was called off, but they were still hitting HHH. After a few bad hits, umaga posted a chair on the turn buckle, let Carlito hold HHH against it and came running in, to jam HHH against the turnbuckle. But HHH moved and Umaga hit the chair. At this point, if it were other heroes, like, say Rock, they would have hit back with legal shots although the match is officially over. But it was HHH - he picked up the chair, hit Carlito who fled away, and then on Umaga's head. But Umaga wasn't giving up and he was trying to stand erect although he was hit every time. After 3-4 hits, HHH stopped, nodded his head went out and picked up his weapon - the metal hammer and hit him on the head leaving umaga in bloodshed.

Two comebacks - I enjoyed both.

My Birthday diary II

It took me more than a month now to continue my last post today - a day from a week which itself in its own accord has got some importance - will deviate to it in next post. Now - let me focus on my 25th year on earth.

I remember celbrating my b'day with 2-3 new dresses and from 1.30 pm CST the previous day. And recving bumps later that night when i cut the cake - first time in my life, but better-not-to-mention start. I was in fiserv team then("was"!!!). But life was cool then, vidhya leading the team, me not with responsiblities and worries, living a wake up late- sleep in office - play pool - stay cool life in Westwood.

And it was the time i might have felt that I am gonna stay onsite for long and will be earning much that i started making trips every possible long weekend - July 4 - florida - Sep - Atlanta, etc. All with sustainment gang. And in Florida - Keywest - I swam(??!!) in the ocean - North Atlantic as it turned out to be... Well, by swimming i didnt mean "kutraleeswaran" type channel crossing effort, but just to float in salty deep blue sea with water jacket. First in my life...

And then Atlanta in sep - me, sundar, vel to visit vijay and not to hurry ourselves as in FL, and relax. We did relax, highlight being the latenight ihop dinner, voracious eating in that indian restaurant and knowing how to live happily in US from jerald and co.

Then suddenly i was aware that im spending too much, and had plans to go home for vacation that I decided to curb myself from any more tours - eventually i spent the longest long weekend of thanksgiving in the coldest cold of minnesota - waiting for the black friday deals for God-only-knows-we-get. Went to BestBuy the night before, and started playing cards out in cold waiting in queue.

But one of the best "first of my life" happened in August - Much dreamt, but a bit disapppointed - my lovely, sweet and troublesome - Toyota camry LE. I hated everything about it and would not have gone for it on a normal day, but with all my options gone, i almost ended up with this, but a big acheievement whatsoever, in life to own a car. In India it would not have happened with all those traffic and not affordable too. Thanks to Uncle Sam - Well, it is my biggest personal purchase after my mobile and laptop.

Then comes one of my most awaited career "first" - I wrote my first line of Development code - although unofficially when I did a module in Vidhya's proj - CCH, yet it was awesome to step into the land of .NET Development and my first successful step towards my dream destination right from my 11th high school- It was long deviated, struggled and finally may be fortunately turned towards what I dont know if that is the best for my career. Thanks to all those who played a part here - Vidhya, Sourav, Baskar, etc.

Time and space running up - few more are : First full year in US, Credit card and credit history, postpaid moblie connection, my cutey-motty-Sony Ericsson w600i, India vacation, Anna's marriage, Park Meadows Tennis & volleyball, etc - a very eventful year indeed. Let me see if I get time to grab these in detail, in next post.

My B'day diary

Today, I am turning 25. Many more happy returns of the day. I always wanted to write diary everyday, to record some memories, but if you know me, I need not explain.

At least let me sum it up here and take notes of myself a few memories before they evaporate into the cloudy sky. Before that, let me take a break from non-stop blogging and have my lunch (now its 3.28 pm, and if you dont know me, well, this is me.) and baskar is waiting for me.

Final Destination 1

14 Jun 2007 - I hate today, feeling as bad as someone in death bed... sorry if i sound too negative - not that bad actually, but it was about the feeling that there is no tomorrow like yesterday(Although it is true for everyday, only very few days in life will remind you of that). This is because, I have this feeling that life from tomorrow will be a downslide of a rollercoaster - if you ever travelled one, you will know it will start very slow and climb up to the max height, and from that point it will suddenly and rapidly fall to the destination, with lot of unexpected turns and slides.

Too much of hype, well it’s my 25th B'day today!!! No, it is not just another birthday. I am getting old and I hate it that I decided not to celebrate. Because I think the rest of the b'days were taking me to the peak of the life. It is like - You go up all the way, stop there and when ready to fall, you will have a scary view of what lies ahead - this b'day is like that stop.

In life, By the time your b'day reminds you of age than a day that gets you new dress, cut a cake and few gifts, you will be past your childhood and stepped into your teens. But then you will enjoy the fact that you are getting old - you are no more a "kid", you are getting matured rather than getting old, and above all you are entering adultery, meaning you can now get yourselves adulterated with all those "18 and above only" stuffs. So you are marching towards that freedom, and hardly worry about getting old. And then every year gets you closer to new destinations - first graduation, first job, first salary, first love and so on - until you reach a point where nothing fascinates you in life enough to be landmarked as your next destination - until Death with, well, few more instances to tell you how close you are - marriage where you loose your bachelorhood(Final Destination 2), day when you become a parent(FD3), day you retire to become a senior citizen(FD4). And I think here I am at that point - FD1.

And did I say why this 25th makes me feel so? Well, whenever there was some age grouping, an insurance quote for instance, they group people into three - under 18, 18-24, and 25 & above. See, thats what I mean - it doesn’t matter you have just turned 25 or 58 or 102 - you are there. Only consolation is the insurance quote will be less - but the price you pay for that is too much. From here on- every Bday gets you "older" than getting you matured.

I know that this is very too much to worry about, but gone are the days. I can hear those optimists who are cursing this pessimistic crap, saying you can always live your life and youthful at heart. But guys, you are talking about pretending to be young, which anyway I will be, but you cannot deny the facts.

On the other side, I feel very lucky to have lived 25 years in the world - I thank God, parents, family, friends and every one part of my world - to be there, wished me goodwill, and made my life as it was. I am lucky to survive 25 years, and I believe i lived them to my best healthily, wealthily and happily. I can’t ask for more.

Today, at this stop, when I turn back to look at the 25 years that passed, I feel glad and content, if not the best - for there is nothing to be stopped as best - Abiding the principle of life, I hope the best has to come yet.

Scary movie 4

In the Bar:

"Hey phil, is that you? what the hell are you doing here"

"Hey Jack... great to see u here. came in here last night..."

"Long time no see... u look the same as i saw u last"

"you too"

"How's ur family doing?"

"They were fine till yesterday as I know, not sure now. Got a chance to meet them before I started, I hate to leave my kids, the youngest would miss me a lot"

"Hmmm.. don't worry, she will be fine in course of time"

"hows life here?"

"life? kidding??(Both laughs)Well, i have heard of heaven and stuffs in story only.. this is unbelievable"

"Hmmm"

"So tell me about your journey"

"oh man, it was adventurous. When i started from home, everything was fine and calm. I was riding my lexus proud as usual when that stupid drunk youngster with his big fat truck came right in front, i just couldn't control, and... bang. Well, I thought i am going to loose my life, but well - I just lost my legs"

Both started laughing like ghosts...

Planet Pluto is dead

The native of controversaries - the Science - gave birth to a recent one - "There are not 9 anymore but only 8 planets; Pluto has been demoted to Dwarf planet and officially(??) fired off the Planetary status.(Well, who gave it first - it's all wierd) - officially by International Astronomical Union.

The reason turns out to be that few more objects similar to that of Pluto has been discovered and hundreds of them more are believed to be existing. Well, I know how difficult it was to remember these nine planets in their order when I was in school. Now if they are to increase the count, the question "Name the planets of our Solar system" will enter into an essay type question. So, they decided to be hard on the qualifications of a planet, and eliminated Pluto from the list, thus silencing all other similar objects' claims to be planets.

Here is the updated version of definiton of a Planet:

A planet1 is a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and (c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit.

Pluto fails in criteria C and goes down as "Dwarf planet". This decision has raised lots of objections around the world. What problems do they have?
1. The least I can think off is that all books, training aids and those posters has to be redesigned
2. there might be a big confusion in the current academic year as which answer is right
3. I always see the navagrahas in Hindu temples as in synch with nine planets - will that harmony be disturbed?

Well, advantage being the kids need not remember 9 planets any more. (I would have preferred uranium to be removed in that case as pluto was easy to remember)

In course of time, people might forget the name - "pluto" - how fast does one's status change?

Good Bye Pluto.(I hate to say that)
